WHAT IS THE GRUMPUS?
Technically, it’s a leviathan… but not just any leviathan ,a big, grumpy one. but he is lovely really. go ahead, give him a pat on the melon….Just not near his mouth.
So, what do we actually do?
We’re masters of 2D illustration, whether that’s bold character art, colourful backgrounds, children’s storybooks, or even a doodle worthy of hanging proudly on your bedroom wall.

But that’s not all. With 10+ years in the video game industry, we also specialise in game art: sprites, UI, and all the little visual details that give a game its magic.
Oh, and because we don’t know when to stop… we’re also creating our very own adult animated TV show, The Mayall Standard (still in development).
Grumpy? Not really. Creative? Absolutely.
WHO CREATED THIS MONSTER?
That would be none other than our very own self-proclaimed King of the Awesome and Master of the Grumpus… Kol Humphries!
Kol has spent over a decade in the video game industry as a 2D Artist, working on titles like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, LEGO Movie 2: The Videogame, LEGO DC Super Villains… and even the legendary (but sadly unreleased) TimeSplitters remake. Dang it!
But Kol doesn’t stop at games. He’s also the author and illustrator of two children’s picture books; Massive Monsters and Massive Monsters and the Grumpus (featuring our beloved mascot) , as well as the dystopian adult novel The Abandoned, set in a London reclaimed by nature and prowling with prehistoric beasts.
And if that wasn’t enough, he’s also the creator, writer, and illustrator behind the upcoming animated TV show The Mayall Standard, which is now fully pitch ready with all six episodes written.
When he’s not climbing this creative mountain, Kol is a dad of three girls, a proud animal lover (with a dog named Margery, a cat named Dio, and a snake named Ruby… all orange, somehow 🤔), and a dinosaur geek who could give Ross Geller a run for his money.
